Things to do Inside this Winter

Feeling a little stir crazy being stuck inside this winter? The cold weather makes it hard to want to leave the house, so here are some of our favorite things to do inside during this time of year!

1. Try out a new work out

With so many new online workouts that are able to be done in the space of your living room, it's easier than ever to work out from home. Many work out apps have a free trial period or there are workout tutorials on YouTube to check out.

2.  Bake some holiday treats

There's nothing that puts me in the holiday spirit like a plate of freshly baked cookies just like my mom makes. Or, if you're feeling adventurous, try out a new recipe. It can be fun to ask your roommates or friends what their favorite treat is.

3. Go for a drive to see Christmas lights

Technically this can't be done from inside your house, but staying in your car is a great way to social distance but feel like you're getting out of the house for a bit. Bring along some hot cocoa and drive around your neighborhood to check out everyone's holiday decor. Also, if you live in the Champaign-Urbana area, be sure to check out Candlestick Lane! It's an area of Urbana where the residents go all out on holiday decorations. For more information, check out https://www.chambanamoms.com/events/candlestick-lane-opening/.

4. Have a virtual game night with your friends

Even though its tough not spending time with your friends, connecting with friends virtually is a great way to not feel so far away. There are online games that you can play through zoom like a virtual escape room or you can try out the powerpoint trend. https://medium.com/@kristinmerrilees/niche-powerpoint-parties-are-whats-keeping-us-educated-in-2020-5e7a32e4eb6a

5. Re-arrange and organize your room

I don't know about you, but my room can get messy during the school year. Taking the time to clean out your closet, get rid of old school papers, and re-arranging the furniture helps me get ready for the upcoming semester. Also, donating any clothes or items you don't use anymore is a great way to free up space after all that Black Friday shopping.
