The Best Things to Donate to a Food Drive

This year JSM is hosting a food drive that will benefit the Eastern Illinois Food Bank. This is a great way to help the community and any donation is very much appreciated. Here are some of the best things that you could donate to a food drive.

According to the Eastern Illinois Food Bank website, these are the items that they are looking for most:

    • Canned complete meals (Spaghettios, ravioli, etc.)
    • Canned beans
    • Canned veggies

    • Spices (Garlic powder, salt, pepper, cinnamon)
    • Holiday Foods (Yams, boxed stuffing, cranberry sauce)
    • Unsalted Nuts

    • Canned goods with pop-top lids are preferred over canned goods that require the use of a can opener.
    • Do not donate food that is past the expiration date.
    • NO glass containers!
    • NO open containers or homemade food

You can bring your food items to the JSM Office (505 S. Fifth St.) during JSM’s regular hours from November 26 until December 12. Thank you so much for your donations!
